Jorge Hernandez, an independent graphic designer and owner of Vine Creative Design Consultancy in San Diego, CA has received the Best in Show award for his controversial poster design "Temporary Americans", entered in the Exact Change poster design contest, sponsored by the Orange County based design studio, Einbahn Studio.

“We wanted the winning entry to not only show excellent design, but also a compelling strategy. We’ve selected “Temporary Americans” because of its potent imagery coupled with the clarity of the message. Every part of this poster, from the strategy to the concept to the execution, contributed to its overall goal of making the viewer understand the designer’s point of view and reconsider possible prejudices toward immigrants. When this poster was created, illegal immigration and the appropriate response was a raging political issue in the United States. We loved the way this poster made its point neatly and unquestionably, without beating the viewer over the head with rhetoric.”
